Björn Aasa, MaSci, RPT is a certified physiotherapist specializing in musculoskeletal pain. He was awarded a masters degree in the field of physiotherapy at the University of Umeå. As a member of the University research team his doctoral studies involved a number of scientific projects and clinical studies, for example on the subject of rehabilitating patients with mechanical nociceptive pain, lower back pain, the importance of motor control and movement control in the evaluation and rehabilitation of patients with disorders of the musculoskeletal system or the relationship between physical activity and capacity and musculoskeletal pain. In 2015, he was awarded the “JOSPT 2015 Excellence in Research” prize from the Journal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy in the category of scientific awards. He has devoted many years to the teaching of manual orthopaedic therapy and disorders of the musculoskeletal system. From 2009 to 2015 he was President of the Swedish Orthopaedic Manual Therapy Organisation.
