Resistance training for over 50's: evidence and practical implications for clinical practiceThis evidence-based session will explore resistance training for clients over 50 years of age. The aim is to demystify resistance training for clinicians and to give guidance on how to get older clients started. Highly practical considerations such as safety, minimum effective dose and maintenance doses will be covered.

- To understand who engages in resistance training and why
- To understand barriers to engaging in resistance training and how to overcome them
- To leverage behavioural strategies to facilitate older people engaging in resistance training
- To recognise relative and absolute contraindications for people over 50 engaging in resistance training
- To apply minimal effective dosages and maintenance doses for resistance training
