Born to Move: Functional Assessment

Assess the whole, Find the cause, Predict the outcome

A logical system to identify the cause and predict outcomes. Finding the best place to work increases your efficiency.

No more chasing pain. Become the expert in the room. Stop being limited to treating symptoms.

Consistently identify the cause of symptoms. We will provide you with a fast, efficient, and client centred assessment of the whole body. This approach is the middle ground between a general read of the client’s whole structure and specific orthopaedic tests - it is a detailed method of examining the whole system and its inter-relationships to logically identify the cause.

Move from a postural model towards assessing function.

Move from an isolated orthopaedic model to use a system that is accurate and predictive.

We will show you how understanding real-life biomechancial principles will help you assess any movement for any body

Our new approach to assessment utilises Diane Lee’s Integrated Systems Model as a base from which we combine dynamic postural & functional analysis. The easy to follow principles will help you find the cause of a problem logically and efficiently and lets you start asking better questions about how to improve the client’s function.

This tensegrity-based approach is not locked in any protocol – just based on the reality of anatomy and can be adapted to your modality. Following this this course, your treatment plans really will be tailored for each individual.

Learning Objectives

  • Find the cause/s of symptoms
  • Differentiate between drivers of postural compensation
  • To assess the difference between them
  • Describe posture with a non-judgemental descriptive language
  • Design individualised programs for your client
  • Ask better questions
  • Avoid abreactions to treatment

The workshops can be seen as a pair that will help you toward the full Functional & Integrative Bodywork Diploma, or can be taken individually.

Further Highlights Include:

Explore through our unique hybrid style of learning blending online theory with realtime practical workshops. Supportive online discussion groups, video and very practical workshops allow your hands to understand as much as your brain.

Practical Elements - What to bring, learning supports etc

Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely.

Learning Aids:

  •  A fully illustrated manual outlines the principles and techniques
  •  Participants also receive access to video content to review and expand on the techniques demonstrated during the workshop

Who Should Attend:

The workshop is designed for massage therapists, physical therapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and those wanting to add an extra dimension to their treatments. While anatomy and pathology will be acknowledged during the 3 days of training, time is too short to teach basics, so a reasonable understanding is expected to allow for a rapid progression and focus on techniques.
